This is a Scottish anti-rape PSA that is a direct response to blaming a rape victim for dressing like a slut. What do you think? Is it effective?

Why I Wear a Thong to Exercise
1 week ago - May 8, 2013

fuckyeahfeminists:

Yeah, yeah TMI. Anyway, this week Amanda Marcotte has a piece titled, “Why Are Women Wearing Thongs to Exercise?” on Slate that seems just astonished that women wear thongs to workout.

What kind of sexualized hell are these poor women living in that they can’t even give up porn-compliant underwear in order to keep their bodies lean and toned for future thong-wearing situations? I was under the impression that yoga was supposed to be a healthful activity, and yet here women are, contorting their bodies in a strap of fabric made to respond by straining painfully at your most sensitive bits. Yoga is supposed to be relaxing, and not reminiscent of a visit to the proctologist.

I don’t know why thongs have to be innately sexual? I have long been a fan of thongs because I can wear them without worrying about what outfit I am going to wear. Have you ever put on boyshorts, but end up changing your bottom that doesn’t suit them so you had to end up changing underwear? Well, if you have you know what I mean.

And why do so many insist that thongs are painful!? I love them and I think they’re sooo comfortable. As long as they are the right size and material, I don’t see how stretching or working out in general makes it exceptionally bad to use.

Here’s an idea for women who really are this worried about having visible panty lines under your yoga pants: Don’t wear underwear. It’s not like flies or ants are going to get in there if you don’t seal it off tightly. If your concern is maintaining maximum sexiness at all times, never fear. My careful perusal of photography provided for straight male audiences suggests that while men do indeed find the thong sexy, they have an even stronger preference for women who are wearing no underwear at all. If you choose to share your preferences with the world at large through the the yoga pants equivalent of vanishing ink, well, that’s not up to the rest of us to judge.

I don’t understand why I should workout with no underwear?! Isn’t not wearing panties just as sexualized, if not MORE than thong underwear? Instead of obtaining “maximum sexiness” perhaps I just want “minimal wedgies” when I’m dancing Zumba.

Also, what if I am on my period? What if we don’t want the chance of a tear in your pants to be all what stands between your vulva and the world getting a view? What about vaginal smell? What about labia being kept in place?

Whatever. the tl;dr is:

You’re not a bad feminist if you wear a thong. Even to exercise. Do what makes you comfortable. *I* personally won’t think you’re trying to be sexy (and so what if you were, anyway?).

That woman needs to take her slut shaming and misogyny and get the fuck away from my panties.

you ever thought that maybe the reason girls say they’re fine when they’re not, or they’re not mad when they are, is because the second they show any semblance of emotion they’re written off as hysterical bitches that are probably on their period?

"I have had several sexual partners in my life, but I won’t tell you how many, because it doesn’t matter. It could be in the thousands, and it wouldn’t make me any less cool to go to lunch with. It wouldn’t make me any less terrible at ironing a shirt. It wouldn’t make me any less likely to love shitty reality television I know is bad for me. Who I am and what I offer to the world has nothing to do with how many sexual partners I’ve had, and I’m not interested in justifying myself to someone who will have already judged me anyway. As much as I’d like to comfort you with some notion that I’ve been impossibly chaste up until the moment I find the “right” man to “complete” me in some way, I must tell you that I haven’t been waiting for anyone. I’ve been living my life exactly as I want to since I’ve become sexually active, and my choices weren’t made to impress an arbitrary committee of judgmental assholes."

New piercing! It hurts to smile aha. Excuse the hangover face..
I want to take a second and be honest with you whether you care or not.
I think you’re cute, but the piercings are really drawing the attention away from your face (as a whole), to that specific part. It simply has too much metal ( lm/ ) in one concentrated area. I don’t want this to be rude, but it’s how I feel.
Also, I think you should dye:
A: Hair back to natural
or
B: Dye your eye brows. Takes away from you. :)
I appreciate the opinion, but 1. I will never dye my hair back to a natural colour & 2. I love having the metal in my face. I’m not bothered that it ‘draws attention away from my face’ it’s my face & I’m the one who has to live with it every single day, so I should be able to do anything I want that makes me feel happy about it, and if people don’t like it a certain way then that’s okay.

Who the fuck does that person think they are?
“I think you’re cute, but I’m just going to tell you to change EVERYTHING ABOUT YOURSELF just because I don’t like it. I don’t care if you know me or not. My opinion is important and you should live your life according to it.”
No.
Fuck off.
Also, for the record, Kayla, you are fucking stunning. Your piercings are cute as fuck. Your hair makes me want to curl into a ball and cry because it’s so perf. Your eyebrows are adorable (and that was something I never thought I’d say about anyone ever so, congrats). I have said on more than one occasion to Ant that you are my number one tumblr lady crush, because you’re so stunning (and I know that sounds weird but, fuck it, it must be said).
So. Yeah. Fuck that other person. You rock your own thing girl, because you do it well!

“I don’t want to be rude but let me tell you exactly what I think you should do WITH YOUR OWN BODY because you are not 110% attractive in my eyes and CLEARLY EVERYONE EVER SHOULD ASPIRE TO MAKE MY DICK RISE”

Drewhartyou, I don’t want to be RUDE, but I think you shoulda. fuck yourself with a cactusOrb. masturbate with a cheese grater
